Understanding Our Core Values through Contemplative Practice

Most of us live on different values, which are our beliefs about what are important in life and what are right or wrong (the latter type is known as moral values). They are related to our personal as well as social wellbeing, e.g. valuing spending quality time with loved ones and advocating social justice respectively. While many of our values might change with circumstances or time, there are some that seem to be more important for us and define our individual identity. These are called core values. Being aware of your own core values is crucial for leading a happy (in the non-hedonistic sense), meaningful, and fulfilling life as you take action and develop plans that align with these values. In Lecture 10, we will explore how contemplative practice can be applied to help you discover your core values, so be sure to join us in class!
