Being Kind to Yourself - Pre-class Materials
When we fail and mess up in our lives, our moods are at risk of heading towards two extremes: self-pity on the one hand, and on the other, self-flagellation. It’s all too easy to be extremely tough on ourselves; we need – at points – to get better at self-compassion. Here is an exercise in how to become more self-compassionate at times of failure.
Many of us tend to be very unkind towards ourselves; made all the more pernicious by the fact that we are not even aware of doing so. To practice greater self-compassion, we need to recognise the forms our self-hatred takes - and where their roots might lie. Watch this video to know more about how to be kinder to ourselves.
